چکیده
Drag reduction in turbulent flow may be significantly reduced by adding tiny quantities of fiber, polymer, and surfactant particles to the liquid. Different drag-reduction agents have proven effective enhancing flowability liquid when added. This study investigated potential decreasing drag, flow, pressure drop horizontal pipe using a mixture modified xanthan gums (XGs). Xanthan are an environmentally friendly natural polymer complex. They can extracted from gum plants utilized formulate different concentrations complexes. The was experimentally 1-m-long addition 300 950 ppm, inner diameter 0.254 inches, four rates. results revealed that considerably with increase concentration additives. (xanthan plus water) resulted favorable pressure, which reached 65% at ppm. computational fluid dynamic simulation COMSOL simulator showed change velocity profiles, became more parabolic. occurred because mean due drag-reducing polymers.

Two phase gas-liquid flow pattern in a horizontal pipeline is predicted very accurately using a newly-developed analytical relation. The pattern identification is based on one of the most widely used graphs, the Baker diagram, modified in a way that compensates for the unrealistic oversimplifications of recent works. The Kern's method of pressure drop calculation is used to obtain the frict...
متن کاملDrag Reduction by Surfactant Solutions in Gravity Driven Flow Systems
Efflux time measurements are carried out for gravity draining of a liquid from a large cylindrical tank (where the flow is essentially laminar) through single exit pipe in the absence and presence of Cetyl Pyridinium Chloride (CPC) surfactant solutions. The variables considered are initial height of liquid in the tank, dia. of tank, length of the exit pipe and concentration of surfactant. T...
متن کاملCFD Simulation of Dry and Wet Pressure Drops and Flow Pattern in Catalytic Structured Packings
Type of packings and characteristics of their geometry can affect the flow behavior in the reactive distillation columns. KATAPAK SP is one the newest modular catalytic structured packings (MCSP) that has been used in the reactive distillation columns, recently. However, there is not any study on the hydrodynamics of this packing by using computational fluid dynamics. In the present work, a 3D ...
متن کاملEffect of drag reducing polymer on air–water annular flow in an inclined pipe
Drag reduction (DR) for air and water flowing in an inclined 0.0127 m diameter pipe was investigated experimentally. The fluids had an annular configuration and the pipe is inclined upward. The injection of drag reducing polymer (DRP) solution produced drag reductions as high as 71% with concentration of 100 ppm in the pipeline. A maximum drag reduction that is accompanied (in most cases) by a ...
